Television personality Alex Trebek, the host of the long-running game show “Jeopardy”, died Sunday at the age of 80 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer, HuffPost reports.
The Ontario, Canada native hosted a score of game shows over his 57-year-career. He started hosting “Jeopardy” in 1984 and continued to host the show until the time of his death. He would often make guest appearances on television shows and movies playing himself or a parody of his “Jeopardy” role. Trebek became an American citizen in 1998, keeping joint US-Canadian citizenship. He is survived by his wife Jean Currivan, and their two children Emily and Matthew.
