A new Morning Consult national survey finds that “45 percent of voters say they’d blame Republicans in Congress for a government shutdown, while only 33 percent say they’d blame Democrats in Congress. Republican voters are more likely than Democrats to say their own party would be at fault (33 percent to 22 percent), while independent voters are more likely to point their fingers at the right than the left (41 percent to 24 percent). Roughly half of voters (48 percent) said a shutdown is at least ‘somewhat likely,’ up from 36 percent who said the same in March.”
