We’re getting calls about polls being closed. They are closed because we do not have elections today. Kentucky votes next year. You cannot vote today in Kentucky for the mayor of New York City or the Governor of Virginia. Sorry. https://t.co/O71e7asXaW

Could’ve kept the bit in the headline going but goddamned if this is not a joke. One might be tempted to at first question that, since the Kentucky gubernatorial elections are held in odd-numbered years (next one’s in November 2027) that there’d be state legislative “midterms” on Tuesday. That used to be true but hasn’t been since a 1992 constitutional amendment. Maybe the latter part about the New York City and Virginia elections was sarcasm – which would still leave enough Kentuckians expecting to be able to vote 33 years after the state did away with the off-off-off-year elections to merit the Secretary of State tweeting that they’re all fucking idiots.
