The Arizona and Texas counties hardest-hit by the coronavirus have brought in refrigerated trucks to store the corpses of those who died from the virus, according to a CNN report via MSN.
The Maricopa County (AZ) medical examiner currently have four refrigerated trucks on site, with more expected in the coming days. The ME’s office has a capacity to store 156 bodies, but can have a “surge capacity” of 200.
The most populous county in the state and home to Phoenix, Maricopa County has seen a sharp increase in cases over the past six weeks.
In Texas, Cameron and Hidalgo counties are sharing a refrigerated truck to handle overflow of bodies caused by the pandemic. San Antonio has also contracted for trucks to be used for excess capacity.
