Ever matching the tenor of the American experience, the Third First Lady Melania Trump announced the completion of the new tennis pavilion at the White House, a project she will never utilize given that the Trumps will move out of the White House in 44 days.
Project planning began in June 2018, with construction starting October 2019. On March 5, 2020, as the coronavirus pandemic was exploding around the country, Melania posted a tone-deaf tweet showing her in a hard hat looking at construction plans. In March, 1.4 million Americans lost their jobs due to the coronavirus.
“I am pleased to announce the completion of the Tennis Pavilion on the White House grounds. Thank you to all of the talented craftsmen who made this project possible and to the generous supporters of the White House,” said First Lady Melania Trump Monday. “It is my hope that this private space will function as both a place of leisure and gathering for future First Families.”
