On the day when President Trump took to the podium to tell the American people, “The virus will disappear. It will disappear,” the number of new reported cases of coronavirus topped 67,000 cases, the United States exceeded 1,000 fatalities from the virus for the first time since early June, according to most trackers.
The worldometers.info site recorded 1,122 fatalities today, the worst day since June 9th. (The worldometers site reported 1,002 fatalities July 15th, but it was an outlier among tracking sites in recording that many deaths.)
California, Texas and Florida again led the nation in the number of new cases reported today. Arizona led the country in daily fatalities from the coronavirus with more than 130.
During his media briefing today, Trump said the national impact from the coronavirus “will get worse before it gets better,” but he offered no national policy to stem the spread of the virus.
