Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (Q-CO5) said in a conversation with Republican Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs that border protection is lax because “Democrats have three branches of government.”

Trying to make a comparison between the southern border, which she claims lacks adequate security, versus the security around the Capitol after the January 6th coup attempt by domestic terrorists loyal to Donald Trump, Boebert said, “It’s really interesting. Being here and seeing how unsecure the border is, but then coming back to Washington, DC and seeing how secure the Capitol is.”
“It really shows you how these people who are in power right now–Democrats have three branches of government–the three branches of government!” Boebert says excitedly as Biggs nods in agreement. “They have the power and they are showing exactly who they care about.”
Set aside the false equivalence of securing the Capitol–the seat of the Republic which was attacked by Trump supporters–with border protection and the false proposition that it’s an either/or proposition, Boebert seems to miss the fact that six of the nine justice of the Supreme Court were Republican appointees. She apparently thinks the “three branches of government” are the Presidency, the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Apparently, civics was not part of the GED program Boebert finished eight months ago.
