The total number of deaths at the facility is 15, according to the department’s tracker on Thursday” the Washington Post reports.
“At least 2,000 inmates at the maximum security prison have been infected with the virus during the outbreak, leaving the Department of Corrections grappling to slow the spread of the deadly infection between prisoners and staff.”
“The inmate, identified as 67-year-old John Beames, was sentenced to death in 1995 after being convicted of killing a 15-month-old baby girl. He was convicted of first-degree murder and torture, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.”
