Four more European nations has suspended the use of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine over concerns that it causes blood clots in some patients, complicating the nations’ response as Italy and other nations deal with spikes in cases, the New York Times reports.
Germany, France, Italy and Spain joined Ireland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland, who had suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine over the last week. The AstraZeneca vaccine has not yet received emergency use authorization in the United States.
Countries from the UK to Italy have been experiencing significant increases in cases over the past two months. Italy has reinstated strict public health regulations to curb the spread of the disease.
