Embattled Republican Florida Congressman and Max Headroom cosplayer Matt Gaetz used a money transfer app to pay his buddy Joel Greenberg $900 in 2018 for “hit up [nickname of teenage victim]” and then Greenberg forward the exact same amount of money to three girls, the Daily Beast reports.
The money transfer and memo undermine Gaetz’s continuing claims that he has never paid for sex or had sexual relations with a teenage girl “since [he’s been] an adult.” Gaetz used Venmo to send Greenberg the payment, which Greenberg then split and sent to three girls within minutes of the money landing in his account; one of the girls was the one mentioned in Gaetz’s note in his payment to Greenberg.
Greenberg is facing 33 counts in federal court relating to child sex trafficking and money laundering.
