A federal grand jury has indicted four former Minneapolis police officers on civil rights violations for their roles in the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who was murdered after ex-cop Derek Chauvin kneeled on his back and neck for nine minutes.
The Associated Press reports that Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Kueng and Tou Thao face a three count indictment for failing to provide Floyd medical care while in custody, while Chauvin, Thao and Kueng are also charged with violating Floyd’s right to be free from unreasonable seizure and excessive force.
Chauvin also faces an additional indictment related to the 2017 of a 14-year-old boy whom Chauvin placed in a neck restraint.
