Driver falsely claims to be officer in FBI, CIA, DEA and Treasury to avoid getting traffic ticket for running red light

An Ohio driver, pulled over Saturday night for running a red light in Brook Park, Ohio, tried to tell a local police officer that he was a member of the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Agency to get out of a traffic ticket, according to court documents.

Gregory Candea, of Parma, Ohio, was pulled over by Sgt. Harold Duncan of the Brook Park police after he ran through a red light.  Duncan reported blue flashing dashboard lights coming from inside Candea’s Ford F-150 pickup.  When pulled over, Candea stated he was a member of the CIA, pointing to a CIA logo on his shirt.

Asked for identification, Candea showed Duncan a badge identifying Candea as an agent for the FBI, which Candea then said was his actual employer.  At that point, Duncan ordered Candea out of the pickup, and Duncan spotted a DEA badge on a chain along with handcuffs inside Candea’s vehicle.

Candea asked Duncan if he was aware of any CIA operations in the area, to which Duncan replied he wasn’t.  Candea then informed Duncan he was actually working for the Department of the Treasury.

Duncan took Candea into custody.  Checking with the FBI, the Brook Park police learned that Cordea shockingly wasn’t an employee of the FBI or the DEA.  Upon doing an inventory of the contents of the pickup, police found a stun gun, a blue police-style visor light and two envelopes in the truck:  one addressed to “Gregory M. Candea, Central Intelligence Agency Headquarter [sic], 1000 Colonial Farm Road, McLean, VA 22101 United States,” and the other addressed to Gregory M. Candea, Pentagon Official, 1400 Defense Pentagon, Washington, DC 20301-1400 United States of America.”

In a background check, police learned Candea had recently numerous arrest warrants outstanding.  Candea replied that he ignored the warrants because “I never go to court.  I have too much authority in the United States.”

They also learned that he had purchased several hundred rounds of ammunition and attempted to purchase over the internet a Ruger semi-automatic pistol and a Century Arms AK rifle.
