President Joe Biden took a major step in repairing damage and waste incurred by his predecessor, revoking an executive order that barred immigrants who might incur a “public charge” on America’s healthcare system, saying it “does not advance the interests of the United States.”
“My Administration is committed to expanding access to quality, affordable healthcare,” Biden said in his announcement. “We can achieve that objective, however, without barring the entry of noncitizens who seek to immigrate lawfully to this country but who lack significant financial means or have not purchased health insurance coverage from a restrictive list of qualifying plans.”
Biden also revoked a number of other Trump executive orders seen as wasteful or self-serving, including a minimum ten-year punishment for damaging a public monument and Trump’s planned National Garden of American Heroes.
