“Senator Ron Johnson (GQP – Wisc) Was greeted with boos when he stopped by Milwaukee’s Juneteenth Day celebration Saturday afternoon, June 19,” reports Milwaukee CBS 58.
“Johnson dropped his objection to making ‘Juneteenth’ a federal holiday earlier this week, after he blocked the bipartisan legislation a year ago. The republican senator says he is not against celebrating the day, but he didn’t think workers needed another paid day off at tax payers’ expense.”
“‘Most people are getting really tired of the division,’ Johnson said. ‘I think people are looking to really heal this nation and certainly that’s what I want to do. We can’t continue down this path. So again, I think this is a day to celebrate.'”
“Many Wisconsinites are skeptical of Johnson’s claims of supporting the holiday after he was recorded earlier this year describing the January 6th MAGA insurrectionists to syndicated radio host Joe Pagliarulo as ‘people who love this country, that truly respect law enforcement, who would never do anything to break the law, so I wasn’t concerned’ Johnson continued: “Now, had the tables been turned, and Joe — this is going to get me in trouble — had the tables been turned and President Trump won the election and tens of thousands of Black Lives Matter and antifa, I might have been a little concerned,’ Johnson said.”
No Black Lives Matter protesters ever breached a Federal Building, and reports of police officers being murdered and arson during the George Floyd protests have been attributed to Trump supporters who wanted to create chaos to prompt a more violent response from police against Civil Rights Activists.
