It’s not often that I’ve had video’s deleted from YouTube. In fact, it’s happened twice: One was related to what an idiot L. Lin Wood is.
But the second one is more interesting. Or I should say, the reason YouTube gave for deleting it, giving me a “strike” and putting my account on a one-week suspension was more interesting.
Apparently, YouTube has decided that One America News is a “violent criminal organization.”
The video in question was a direct grab of OAN “investigative reporter” Pearson Sharp calling for a thorough investigation into the fraud he (and Donald Trump) claims happened during the November 2020 election. (We wrote it up here, and had a follow-up story here.) Sharp called it nothing short of treason, and he called for the execution of thousands of people he claimed were involved in sham election–for which he had no proof.
YouTube pulled the video. I appealed. YouTube rejected the appeal, claiming that the video supported a “violent criminal organization” or the “content [was] produced by violent criminal or terrorist organizations.”
For those of you who follow the JackInEC YouTube channel–which is primarily videos posted here on NatZero–you see that my description of the video is typical the story I post to NatZero. On this story, it’s obvious I wasn’t endorsing what Sharp was saying.
But YouTube thinks OAN is a “violent criminal or terrorist organization” because they took down the network’s content.
Funny, though: YouTube hasn’t seen fit to pull down OAN’s channel. If they have determined it’s “a violent criminal or terrorist organization,” you’d think they would.
