Nathan Allen wasn’t a person who would typically fit the profile of a murdering white supremacists. He had an undergrad degree from an Ivy League college. He had just received a Ph.D. in physical therapy. He had no criminal record and he had passed the application to have a carry permit.
But on Sunday, the 28-year-old stole a truck in Winthrop, Massachusetts and shot two Black people, a retired police officer and a non-commissioned officer in the Air Force. He then crashed the pickup into a house and started firing on police officers who were in pursuit. Police returned fire and killed him, according to WBZ CBS-4 Boston.
Investigators searching his home found a notebook filled with racist and anti-Semitic notes, mostly written in the last week. Prosecutors are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
