“Taliban fighters violently suppressed a women’s protest Saturday in Kabul,” demonstrating behavior that was remarkably similar to how the Trump administration responded to BLM protests over the murder of George Floyd in the summer of 2020.
The New York Times reports that: “Several of the women, who were demanding inclusion in the yet-to-be named Taliban government, said they were beaten by Taliban fighters, some of the first concrete evidence of harsh treatment of women by the group.”
So far, there haven’t been any reports of Taliban fighters blinding protesters and journalists by shooting them in the face with rubber bullets, throwing women to the ground and cracking their skulls on the pavement, or beating elderly men to the point where they can no longer walk and end up in a wheelchair, like we saw from pro-Trump American police in 2020.
“Taliban tried to rout the gathering of about 100 women using tear gas, rifle butts and metal clubs or tools. She said she received five stitches to close a head wound after she was knocked unconscious with a blow from one of the metal objects.”
News of the Taliban attack on Afghan feminists is expected to bring widespread cheers from right-wing incels in the United States, along with cries that they should be more aggressive, and start treating Afghan protesters with the same level of violence that American police forces demonstrate towards Black Lives Matter protesters.
