The Georgia high school that suspended a student for sharing photographs of hallways packed with students who are largely not wearing facemasks has revoked the student’s suspension, the Washington Post reports.
Lynne Watters told the Post that her 15-year-old daughter Hannah’s suspension was lifted by North Paulding High School in Dallas, Georgia, which serves 2,000 students. The school administration has said that wearing a mask is a “personal choice.”
“The principal just said that they were very sorry for any negative attention that this has brought upon her, and that in the future they would like for her to come to the administration with any safety concerns she has,” Watters said in a text message to the Post. “[The principal confirmed that she will have no disciplinary action on her record and she can return to school on Monday.”
Hannah Watters and at least one other student were suspended from the school after sharing photos and video of the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds of students in the hallways of her high school on the first two days of classes. It is unknown if the suspension of the other student was lifted as well.
