“When Ms. Bauer appeared before the Court on September 17, she had been working multiple days in a row, putting in 14 to 16 hours days and was suffering from lack of sleep as her sister relates in her letter. Ms. Bauer has also been receiving ugly hate mail. One such letter is attached as an exhibit. As she told the Court, each time she comes to court, she needs to take two-days off from work to travel and stay overnight. The combined stress of these circumstances have taken their toll on Ms. Bauer. Counsel respectfully requests that the Court take these circumstances into consideration and release Ms. Bauer to return to her productive and generous activities. WHEREFORE, for all these reasons, Ms. Bauer respectfully requests that this Court release her, with the least restrictive conditions the Court deems necessary” writes Capitol riot defendant Pauline Bauer’s court-appointed “stand-by” attorney petitioning her for release from jail.

National Zero reported Bauer was jailed on June 21st, but a judge had allowed her to be released a few days later – provided she followed a certain number of conditions. Bauer was tossed in jail again last Friday for failing to abide by the terms, and was in court today for a detention hearing.

The hearing didn’t go very well, as NBC Washington’s Scott MacFarlane reports, writing in a tweet thread “Judge: ‘You’ve shown contempt for the rule of law.’ Bauer then interrupts judge, referencing ‘dominion over the land.’ Bauer says she has diplomatic immunity. And is appearing as a ‘friend of the court. ‘Bauer says ‘it’s pretty clear we are not going to get anywhere’… asks to go to appeals court. Judge shuts down hearing. Bauer never references the argument a court appointed lawyer made on her behalf. Bauer goes back to jail.”
