Dr. Jerry Prevo, the chairman of the university board of trustees, was appointed acting president of Liberty University after Jerry Falwell Jr. was asked by the board to take a leave of absence after he posted questionable photographs on social media.
Pervo has served on the school’s board of trustees since 1996 and became board president in 2003. He had served as pastor of the Anchorage Baptist Temple in Alaska from 1971 to 2017.
Falwell took a temporary leave of absence after he posted photos online of him partying with a woman in a wig while he was holding what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage. He’s had a few very questionable events in recent years, including a business deal with a resort pool boy to fund a now-closed hostel for gay men in Miami and bringing highly controversial conservative speakers to address mandatory weekly student congregations.
