After the ridiculous farce that was the Kenosha Lynchings trial, where it was established that a white nationalist can provoke a confrontation through the provocative display of a firearm, murder and seriously injure others and then escape criminal penalties by claiming “self-defense”, it is likely that highly educated individuals, and especially those who hold liberal political views will actively avoid moving to states that have “stand your ground” laws, and Republican dominated state legislatures that are constantly pushing to make it easier for white nationalists to obtain all the firearms they want.

Rational people want to live in a place where they will be safe. No one wants to live in a place where at any time, they can be seriously injured by an accidental discharge from a firearm, or be confronted and gunned down by a white nationalist, and have the negligent gun owner or provocative extremist let off without legal penalty. Highly educated people also want good schools for their children, and will refuse to live in areas where white-nationalists have terrorized the local school board and driven away all of the credentialed educators to replace them with right-wing lunatics who want to burn any book that so much as mentions homosexuality, nad who insist that any teaching about the Civil Rights movement is “critical race theory indoctrination”. Conservatives are going to suffer consequences for their radicalization, through a loss of access to professional services, and they have only themselves to blame.

This phenomena is already affecting many of the country’s deep red counties. “Many of them have no doctor, no psychiatrists and no dentist.” That problem isn’t going to improve now that many conservatives are suing doctors to prescribe quack remedies, and many health-care centers have to hire extra security to keep doctors and nurses from being physically attacked by anti-vax and anti-mask zealots as they are leaving work at night.

Many rural parts of the country are also dealing with a shortage of teachers and school administrators, and once again, white conservatives have their own behavior to blame for that shortage. Right-wing propaganda about Covid19 has led to a flurry of threats against public educators, and rural districts are also notorious for offering pay rates that are well below the national average.

All of these problems are magnified when you add in the problem of multiple guns in every household, and lazy police who pretend not to notice when MAGA extremists go threatening and harassing others. No one is obligated to suffer from below average pay and a constant stream of threats and harassment from their neighbors. People have every right to vote with their feet, and to move to an area where they will be able to earn better pay, and be treated with greater dignity and respect. Doctors and teachers deserve to have police who will do their jobs, and not pretend to be distracted when they are being harassed by MAGA extremists. Rural white America is already facing a shortage of doctors and teachers, and that problem will continue to get worse, until rural white America learns to grow up, turn off the right-wing propaganda, and stop attacking the people that help them to maintain their health, and educate their children. So long as rural white conservatives continue to insist they are “owning the libs” and it’s some kind of great victory to threaten and harass doctors and teachers, then they have only themselves to blame when a family member dies in the ambulance after a heart attack or stroke, because the nearest hospital is two hours away, or their child is labeled as “special needs”, because their failing rural school district cannot find enough teachers or reading specialists willing to move to the area and work in that rural district.
