President Joe Biden did not ask Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for any favors in return for help pushing back against Russian aggression during their 90-minute call Thursday, Axios reports. Zelensky requested preemptive sanctions against Russia and immediate transfers of military equipment, neither of which were conditional upon Zelensky opening an investigation into Eric Trump or handing over a server that doesn’t exist and even if it did it wouldn’t be in Ukraine.
Zelensky’s team spoke highly of Biden, calling him a “trustworthy ally”, but did not signal any movement on the requests for help. Putin meanwhile at the time, may or may not have been running around firing a pistol at a group of political prisoners wearing Ukrainian national soccer jerseys set loose in the Kremlin’s maze-like basement, hunted like turkeys for his cruel amusement.
