The upcoming republican National Convention will feature appearances from President Trump on every night, ignoring the tradition that the nominee only speaks on the final night of the convention, after he has been officially nominated, the Washington Post reports.
Trump will likely make his acceptance speech from the South Lawn of the White House, which will raise scrutiny for potential violations of the Hatch Act for using public land for political purposes. No details of Trump’s other speeches have been released.
Vice President Pence will make his address from the Fort McHenry National Monument in Baltimore, a city Trump has called a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess.”
Other speakers, including first lady Melania Trump, Trump’s adult children, Sens. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), and Nikki Haley, Trump’s former ambassador to the United Nations, the official confirmed to the Post. They will likely speak from the Mellon Auditorium, three blocks away from the Trump International Hotel in downtown Washington, DC.
The Democrats have announced a line up of well-known musicians as entertainers for their convention; the republicans have announced no entertainment.
