In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court lifted a lower court injunction that put the execution of Matthew Reeves on hold, paving the way for his execution as soon as later tonight, CBS 42 Birmingham reports. Reeves was convicted of murdering a man who had helped him tow Reeves’ car after Reeves broke down on the side of the road.
The four Justices who voted against lifting the injunction: Kagan, Breyer, Sotomayor… and Coney Barrett.
