After a late night at a local bar, a Port Saint Lucie, Florida man couldn’t locate his car, so he stole another car to search for it, but then that car got stuck on railroad tracks where it was hit by a train, flinging it into a nearby house, the Associated Press reports.
Upon destroying the car, the enterprising 38-year-old then stole a forklift from a nearby fruit stand to continue his search, stopping to tell police that his car was still missing and he was still looking for it. At that point, police arrested him.
The sleeping residents of the house were uninjured but startled by a car flying into their residence. “The explosive sound of a driverless car smashing into the side of their home was clearly jolting,” the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
