The French government is setting up checkpoints and deploying thousands of police officers to prevent a “freedom convoy” from doing to Paris what Canadian truckers have done to Ottawa in protest of much more stringent French COVID-19 safety and vaccine mandates, the Guardian reports. In the city of Toulouse, about 425 miles south of Paris, a caravan of trucks, cars, and RVs mustered in a parking lot, ready to invade the capital. “The authorities cannot block everyone,” one Toulouse woman told the Guardian as she cheered on the protestors as they departed. “The convoys must force it, they must still try to enter.”
