A 60-year-old man received dozens of coronavirus vaccines so he could get authentic proof of inoculation cards which would list authentic vaccine batch numbers that he would used on forged cards, the Associated Press reports.
The man was arrested at a vaccination center when he showed up two days in a row to get a vaccine. Subsequent doses of the vaccine should be taken 28 days after the first shot, in most cases. Police found the man carrying a stack of forged vaccine cards.
About 72% of Germans are fully vaccinated, and a significant percentage of the population are right-wing conspiracy theorists with anti-government views who have protested vaccine mandates and public health regulations. Because of the 28% unvaccinated, Germany has experienced a new spike in cases, with more than 70,000 new cases reported Sunday.
