William Todd Wilson, the 44-year-old former leader of the Sampson County chapter of the Oath Keepers (and a man with three first names, so you know what that means) became the third member of the far-right nationalist organization to plead guilty to charges related to the January 6th domestic terrorist attack on Congress, NBC reports.
A former law enforcement officer and a veteran, Wilson was charged just last week, so the fast resolution of the case is a sign that he has been cooperating with prosecutors, who were waiting to see his level of cooperation before deciding on charges. Wilson reported continues to cooperate with investigators.
In court documents, prosecutors allege Wilson “conspired with” Oath Keepers founder Elmer Stewart Rhodes to use force to prevent the peaceful transfer of power through the Congressional certification of the Electoral College votes. Wilson reported help stage a cache of weapons in suburban Virginia to arm an Oath Keepers “Quick Reaction Force” that would come in to attack the Capitol as reinforcements to the first wave of domestic terrorists.
