Following the leak of a draft majority opinion that would strike down federal protections for access to abortion, Americans want to see major changes to the Supreme Court that would prevent one Party from manipulating appointments for generations.
The poll by Politico/Morning Consult found that 74% of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of enacting a code of ethics for justices, versus only 11% who would disapprove with that proposal.
Sixty-seven percent of Americans support term limits for justices, while 44% support expanding the Court to eliminate the conservative bias, compared to only 37% who disapprove. Sixty-three percent support age caps for justices.
Two-thirds of Americans want more transparency from the Court, such as televising proceedings. Fifty-nine percent said the Court should be composed of three each of Republicans, Democrats and Independents.
