After having seven straight days of more than 100 new coronavirus, South Korea is considering reinstituting stern restrictions to curb a new spread of infections, the Associated Press reports.
South Korea recorded more than 300 cases in the last 24 hours, the second day in a row where they topped that milepost.
In response, the government is considering reimplementing widespread business shut downs and social distancing rules nationwide that have already been put in place in the region around Seoul, where the outbreak occurred.
South Korea responded aggressively when the first cases of coronavirus were detected in the country–which coincidentally was at the same time the US identified its first cases. South Korea has seen 300 fatalities and 17,000 cases of the virus.
That’s 2% of the per capita rate of the United States, which never implemented a national policy.
