A Missouri woman who got HPV after having sex with her then-boyfriend in his car successfully sued Geico, his car insurance company, getting a $5.2 million settlement, the Kansas City Star reports.
The unnamed woman reportedly contracted the sexually-transmitted human papillomavirus from the man, who knew he was infected but did not inform her. Because the act happened in his car, she filed a claim saying the man’s liability coverage should cover this.
Geico refused to honor the claim until a Missouri court ruled in the woman’s favor. Geico immediately announced it would appeal the decision.
