Asked if Donald Trump was right to pressure state officials and Mike Pence to overturn the 2020 election, House Minority Leader and white christian male who swore he could never be a minority Kevin McCarthy inartfully avoids answering the question: “Y’know the President always has the right to challenge an election, just as the Democrats questioned, just as Bennie Thompson voted against the electorate vote, just as Raskin, who sits on this committee, said President Trump should be impeached before the President was even sworn in, so…. Look, I know you’ve got a lot of questions that hover directly to your, to your viewers but I think your viewers also care more about… inflation. Why does it cost them more every single day?”
Note that the question had nothing to do with challenging ballot counts or election results. It was about the historic pressure the sitting President of the United States put on state officials and the Vice President of the United States to overturn the valid election results so he could illegally stay in power.
