South Carolina man sues Nancy Mace over sex trafficking speech

In what’s sure to be a major test of the Speech and Debate Clause, South Carolina man Brian Musgrave on Friday filed a defamation lawsuit against crazy Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s speech to the House floor last month in which she accused Musgrave, a business associate of her ex-fiancee Patrick Bryant, and two others of engaging in sex trafficking, Palmetto Politics reports.

“Perhaps the defendants felt that the message was so powerful that a little collateral damage in the form of Brian Musgrave’s name and reputation was acceptable,” Musgrave’s lawyers wrote in the complaint, filed in a Charleston federal court. “It is not acceptable to Brian Musgrave. It is not acceptable to his family. While the speech and debate clause of the United States Constitution affords broad protection to members of Congress acting as part of its deliberative process, it does not transform the floor of Congress into a sanctuary for defamation, nor does it protect Congresswoman Mace’s extra-Congressional defamatory statements surrounding her speech.”

It was pretty goddamned obvious that was why Mace read it on the floor rather than tweeted it in a video or whatever, so any sane, functional justice system would probably use this case to set a new minimum reasonable standard for where the limitations are rather than just letting them say whatever the fuck they want and then retroactively shoehorning in some specious “legislative purpose” to dodge consequences. Key words there being “sane” and “functional” so who knows what the hell’s going to happen. You could do a lot worse for a test case. Would help if Musgrave doesn’t end up accepting a settlement before such precedent is set, even if it takes years. If he’s unafraid of discovery then he should be willing to see this through. It’d be some measure of justice after Lindsey Graham, David Perdue, Kelly Loeffler, Scott Perry, Ron Johnson, and all those other twats got away from with the 2020 coup attempt simply because of the Speech and Debate Clause.

MAGA Congresskaren thinks Dems conspiring with auto CEOs

This is five minutes, but it’s worth a listen to get into the persecuted heart of darkness inside Michigan Congresskaren Lisa McClain as she talks to CNN’s Boris Sanchez like he’s a teenager – specifcally one of the honor students in the class who calmly tells a teacher why she’s full of shit.

DOGE-eat-dog world

From an email sent out from a TSA official to the agency’s bomb-sniffing dog handlers, obtained by Fox News reporter Jennifer Griffin: “As of the moment, ALL requests for everything to include (Vet visits, kenneling, dog food, etc…) have been put on hold until we receive further guidance. I apologize for the confusion, but due to new guidance sent out last night, nothing is being approved at this time. Once I receive an update, I will be sure to share with all of you.”

Griffin’s one of the (very few remaining) functional adults at Fox, basically the reporting side’s Jessica Tarlov. Needed to point that out, even if it otherwise should be obvious given how fucked up this is, that the Trump regime won’t pay for veterinary care or even food for TSA K9s.

Mount Spurr getting closer to hot, steamy, satisfying release

“During overflights on March 7 and 11, AVO measured significantly elevated volcanic gas emissions from Mount Spurr volcano. Newly reactivated fumaroles (gas vents) were also seen at the volcano’s Crater Peak vent. Elevated earthquake activity and ground deformation continue. The increase in gas emissions confirms that new magma has intruded into the Earth’s crust beneath the volcano and indicates that an eruption is likely, but not certain, to occur within the next few weeks or months. The most likely outcome of the current unrest is an explosive eruption (or eruptions) like those that occurred in 1953 and 1992. Those eruptions each lasted a few hours and produced ash clouds that were carried downwind for hundreds of miles and minor ashfall (up to about ¼ inch) on southcentral Alaska communities. We expect to see further increases in seismic activity, gas emissions, and surface heating prior to an eruption, if one were to occur. Such stronger unrest may provide days to weeks of additional warning,” says an update from the Alaska Volcano Observatory.

Consumer sentiment continues tanking, even among Republicans

“Consumer sentiment slid another 11 percent this month, with declines seen consistently across all groups by age, education, income, wealth, political affiliations, and geographic regions. Sentiment has now fallen three consecutive months and is currently down 22 percent from December 2024.”

“While current economic conditions were little changed, expectations for the future deteriorated across multiple facets of the economy, including personal finances, labor markets, inflation, business conditions, and stock markets. Many consumers cited the high level of uncertainty around policy and other economic factors; frequent gyrations in economic policies make it very difficult for consumers to plan for the future, regardless of one’s policy preferences. Consumers from all three political affiliations are in agreement that the outlook has weakened since February.”

“Despite their greater confidence following the election, Republicans posted a sizable 10 percent decline in their expectations index in March. For Independents and Democrats, the expectations index declined an even steeper 12 and 24 percent, respectively,” says the University of Michigan’s Survey of Consumers’ mid-month reports. Ouch to the Trump Reich on that Republican voter hit.

“Medicaid isn’t just for Black people in the ghetto, these are our voters”: Trump minion after Elon Musk interview clusterfuck

Political reporter Tara Palmeri is now Substacker Tara Palmeri and her new blog’s second edition alleges the usual insanity inside the Orange God Emperor’s retinue, that people are “fucking furious” with Elon Musk for that interview with cokehead Larry Kudlow in which Ketamine Head said “Most of the federal spending is entitlements… That’s the big one to eliminate,” which most observers correctly took to mean that Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare are on the chopping block.

Fear of and hatred toward Musk are in abundance in the White House, even with top dog Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. “He treats like a secretary in front of people,” a source told Palmeri. “The second most powerful person in Washington, the first woman and someone who has done a good job of keeping the trains running on time.” Another said “The staff hates him… Part of it is policy and part is that he’s not human.” In the cabinet they’re just as angry. “They’re like ‘Fuck this guy, he’s not communicating what he’s going to cut, he’s just cutting,'” said a source. “Whenever they get a call, everything goes to shit. They’re trying to run their agencies, and then they have this guy who thinks he’s trimming the fat, but it isn’t fat… He treats cabinet secretaries like they’re messenger boys.”

This was all before Musk’s entitlements fuckup, after which one “Republican operative close to the White House,” quoted revealed more about the GOP than anything about Musk’s relationship with Trump and the two assholes’ day to-day as they steer the ship of state toward the rocks:

“Medicaid isn’t just for Black people in the ghetto, these are our voters.”

Michigan focus grouper fears US will “turn into a dictatorship”

Participants in a recent focus group of Michigan voters acted with alarm at convicted felon President Trump’s first weeks back in office, with one calling the fat fuck’s actions and behavior in public settings “so erratic, and it’s getting to the point where I’m almost scared to watch the news. I mean, it’s a little bit frightening ’cause each day is something new, so you get a little anxious.”

Another Shannon B, of Livonia, said she doesn’t “feel like he was this aggressive last time because I don’t think anyone would’ve voted for him if they expected to see what we’re seeing now.” Phil L, of Dearborn Heights, was downright disturbed over the trade war shit, saying “I mean, Canada? When have we ever had issues with Canada? We barely have a border. You can go in and out of the country and a lot of places, a lot of states. I think we’re just barking up the wrong tree with this.”

Therese L, of Commerce Township, fumed over the viral image of a crowned Trump, the “long live the king” comment, saying “He who saves his country doesn’t violate any law. He is acting like a dictator.” Mike L, from the same town, said Trump “campaigned on lowering prices and making things more affordable for working-class people. He’s moving in the opposite direction.”

Justin Trudeau officially resigns, Mark Carney to be sworn in

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will at 11 AM EDT on Friday morning officially tender his resignation and his successor, fellow Liberal Mark Carney, the former governor of the Bank of Canada from 2008 to 2013 and governor of the Bank of England from 2013 to 2020, CTV reports.

Carney steps in to a dramatically changed political situation for Canada’s Liberals, who had been on their asses prior to convicted felon US President Trump’s return to power. The imposition of tariffs and the threat of more from the fat fuck sapped the initial excitement among Canuck Conservatives and led to them turning against American right wingers. Canada’s Liberals now go into the next period with renewed momentum and Carney’s favored to survive elections expected this spring.

Most Brits don’t have particularly strong feelings about aliens: poll

A new YouGov survey finds that, on the question of “Would you feel happy or unhappy if humans found proof that aliens exist?” a pretty solid plurality of British respondents at 47 percent said they would feel neither happy or unhappy should that proof emerge, with 32 percent saying they’d be happy, 13 percent saying they don’t know, and just 7 percent saying they’d be unhappy.

There’s a stark gender divide in which 42 percent of men said they’d be happy to 23 percent of women, though again both were pretty neutral at 43 and 50 percent of women saying “neither,” Women were slightly more preemptively unhappy about aliens at 10 percent to mens’ 6 percent.

In conclusion, the poll question was designed terribly as there was not enough specificity applied to “not happy,” which could mean a lot of different things, such as terrified for their lives, bored of all the media coverage, disgusted at their appearance, or simple xenophobia in which they’re already mentally prepared to come up with racial slurs to denigrate extraterrestrial visitors.

Second Amendment patriot celebrates freedom at Tesla dealership

A red-blooded, God-fearing Second Amendment patriot celebrated his or her constitutional freedom to bear and discharge arms at a Tesla dealership in the Portland suburb of Tigard, Oregon early Thursday, blasting multiple rounds of liberty into the symbolic flesh of tyrants, damaging multiple vehicles in the process, the AP reports. It’s the second time this month that the non-abridged right was expressed at the same location, a retail establishment rumored to be owned by a foreigner.

Mike Johnson’s prayers answered again as God takes another Dem

For the second time in as many weeks God has answered his chosen child Mike Johnson’s prayers and taken another House Democrat as Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva, Punchbowl’s Jake Sherman reports, citing an announcement from Grijalva’s office that says the Dem died of cancer.

Grijalva is now the second House D to die in office in as many weeks, following the March 5th death of Texas Congressman Sylvester Turner. The difference this time is that Grijalva hadn’t been present for a vote in months as he suffered terribly at home and – given that Arizona’s governor is a fellow Dem and the district reliably blue – the seat will be filled sooner rather than later.

Voters think economy even worse now than under Biden: QU poll

A new Quinnipiac University national survey finds 1 percent of voters rating the current state of the US economy as “excellent” and 22 percent as “good” to 45 percent as “not good” and 31 percent calling it “poor,” a clear decline in the outlook since a December 2024 survey on the same question found it at 3 percent “excellent,” 31 percent “good,” 31 percent “not so good,” and 33 percent “poor.”
