Walton County on Florida’s panhandle closed all beaches after two people were attacked by sharks in separate incidents on Friday at two beaches two miles apart, NBC News reports.  Neither of the incidents involved people swimming off boats, but it’s unclear how far the victims in both attacks were from shore.

In the first incident, a woman was attacked while swimming off shore around 1:15 p.m., prompting officials to issue a double-red flag warning of the risk to swimmers.  Shortly thereafter, at Inlet Beach around five miles to the southeast, witnesses said a teenage swimmer was attacked.  Both victims were airlifted to trauma centers outside the area for treatment, and they were in critical but stable condition when transported.

Corrupt court manipulator Leonard Leo, the head of the Federalist Society, has transferred more than $6 million in donations to a non-profit he runs to his pockets through one of his consulting companies, Politico reports.  The Leo-run Concord Fund–formerly known as the Judicial Crisis Network–in Virginia took in donations and then hired Leo’s CRC Advisors for “consulting” services to the tune of six million dollars from July 2022 to June 2023.

While there’s nothing inherently illegal about the non-profit paying a for-profit consultant, when you’re dealing with two organizations that are controlled by the same individual, illegal self-dealing is likely if there was actually no independent work done.  The set up would allow donors to fund Leo’s commercial operations through donations to his non-profits.

A random comment made to the New York Court’s Facebook page predicting Donald Trump’s conviction a day before the verdict was handed down prompted Judge Juan Merchan to alert both sides’ counsel.  In a letter, Merchan said the comment–“My cousin is a juror and says Trump is getting convicted 🎉 Thank you folks for all your hard work !!!! ❤️.”– was posted by someone identifying themselves as “Michael Anderson.”  There’s no information if the account that posted the comment is authentic or if it’s just some random MAGAt trying to screw with the inevitable conclusion after hearing the boatload of evidence.

The closest the Supreme Court has to a villainous John Grisham character, Justice Clarence Thomas finally chose to officially disclose the lavish gifts from his billionaire benefactor Harlan Crow, CBS News reports, an acknowledgment that happened so far after the barn door closed, a new subdivision stands where the farm once was.

In the May 15th filing, Thomas amended the 2019 gift disclosure to include two trips he took with Crow and his wife–presumably Ginny Thomas attended as well–to Bali and to Monte Rio, California.  Thomas claims the entries were “inadvertently omitted at the time of filing,”

As reported here Thursday night, an independent watchdog group found Thomas had received more than $4 million in gifts during the last two decades while on the Supreme Court, and appeared to have reported less than 10% of them.

Per the Banner, Sixberry “inappropriately used social media and cell phone texting as a means of communicating with players on matters not related to the baseball program” and “regularly offered gift cards to players for reasons that are unclear, which is not only inappropriate but may also be [Michigan High School Athletic Association] rules violation,” both very much telltale signs of predatory groomer-ism. Sixberry also used “inappropriate language” around players but what the fuck kind of high school athletics coach isn’t salty on occasion? Or all the time?

“While our investigation did not find any evidence of any incident we believe to be illegal or requiring a mandated report to Child Protective Services, we did find a preponderance of evidence of situations we believe to be inappropriate in a healthy coach/player relationship,” said Athletic Director Mike Goggins in a statement that might’ve been the end of the story of some unhinged, immature weirdo getting fired for acting as such around teenagers. President Joe Biden apologized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for the long Republican-caused delay in continued military aid to the beleaguered ally in Paris on Friday, the AP reports.

“We’re still in. Completely. Thoroughly,” Biden told Zelensky about the continued support of the American people for Ukraine, even if in reality that’s kind of TBD by the November election.

“It’s very important that in this unity, United States of America, all American people stay with Ukraine like it was during World War II,” Zelenskyy said. “How the United States helped to save human lives, to save Europe. And we count on your continuing support in standing with us shoulder to shoulder.”

The meeting comes a day after a legitimately powerful moment in Normandy when, during a ceremony commemorating the D-Day landings, Zelensky was greeting American veterans of the battle. One of them, 99 year-old Melvin Hurwitz, pulled Zelensky in for a hug and exclaimed “Oh, you’re the savior of the people!” to which Zelensky replied “No, no, no, you… you saved Europe.”

Friday is National Donut Day, a solemn remembrance of the American heroes who bravely landed in Europe bringing donuts with them to help liberate France from the German war machine.

In makeshift huts, thousands of soldiers would come to stock up on essential goods and grab a sweet treat baked by the Lassies,” says a page on the Salvation Army’s website.

So when you’re picking up your free donut from Dunkin or Krispy Kreme or Tim Hortons or whoever else is giving them out on Friday just remember that you have to feel kind of guilty for not just the fat, sugar, and calories you’re consuming, but also that you’re participating in a ritual created by an organization with a reputation for hostility toward LGBTQ+ individuals… during Pride Month.

With the company controlling Infowars also in bankruptcy and overseen by a court agent, the move means the timetable to sell off Jones’s network and lavish homes could move rapidly to rid Jones of everything he owns.  The hearing for Free Speech Systems’ bankruptcy is scheduled for next Friday after the company switched its bankruptcy to a Chapter 7 liquidation.

In a turf remake of the Miracle on Ice, the 18th-ranked United States team beat one of the perennial powerhouses in world cricket, Pakistan, in an International Cricket Council’s T20 World Cup match played in Dallas on Thursday, CNN reports.

The US is ranked immediately behind Nepal and ahead of Oman in the world standings, while sixth-ranked Pakistan holds the ICC Champions Trophy.  T20 is an abbreviated form of a traditional cricket match, which can sometimes carry on for days.  In T20, each team gets 120 pitches, in six-pitch rounds, to score as many runs as possible, with each side taking all their turns at bat at once.

In Thursday’s match, the US’s Nitish Kuma tied the game on the very last pitch forcing a Super-Over where each team got six pitches to score as many runs as possible.  In the overtime, the US outscored Pakistan 18-13.  The US and the West Indies are jointly hosting 2024 T20 World Cup.

Supreme Court Justices received more than $4.7 million in gifts over the last ten years, with one specific justice–you can’t imagine who!–accounting for more than 80% of value, an analysis by the watchdog group FixTheCourt reports.  The group looked at official records and filings required by federal rules, and it also combed public records for other evidence of unreported or misreported gifts.
