Trump-endorsed candidate loses New Jersey GOP Senate race

A Cape May, New Jersey real estate developer beat Trump-endorsed MAGA candidate Christine Serrano-Glassner to take the Republican New Jersey Senate nomination, dealing another blow to the armor of Donald Trump among traditional moderate Republicans.

In a battle of two largely self-funded candidates, Curtis Bashaw spent more than $1.4 million to defeat Serrano-Glassner, who didn’t even shell out one-third of that to buy the nomination, according to the New Jersey Globe.  The political neophyte’s victory is even more hurtful to Trump because Bashaw entered the late race and quickly secured top-line status on the ballot in eleven heavily populated counties.  New Jersey’s county Party leaders get to decide who appears on the top line of the ballot, giving that character a defacto endorsement and a major advantage.

Bashaw will now take on popular Congressman Andy Kim and guy who says the gold bars belong to his wife Bob Menendez, if Menendez isn’t convicted in his ongoing corruption trial.  Menendez’s son, Robert, easily won his Congressional Democratic primary for reelection to his 8th District seat.

Republicans are now nominating pre-lying candidates

Tim Sheehy–either an irresponsible Navy SEAL with a weapon or a clumsy camper with a weapon who may or may not have shot himself in Afghanistan or at a national park–won the Republican nomination for the US Senate seat for Montana, according to the New York Times.  Sheehy will take on Democrat Jon Tester in one of the key races that could determine control of the Senate.

Male birth control cream proves effective if applied aggressively

Exciting things are happening at the Endocrine Society’s annual meeting in Boston, and we’re not being completely sarcastic.  In fact, a drug in Phase 2b clinical trials with hundreds of volunteers may lead to the first effective male topical birth control, the Washington Post reports.

The daily-treatment gel, made from the progestin medication segesterone acetate and testosterone, was shown to reduce sperm production twice as quickly as other experimental treatments.  The study of 222 men showed that 86% had significantly reduced sperm production by as much as 95%, leaving fewer than one million little swimmers per milliliter.  Now researchers just have to figure out how to signal to a potential partner that he is telling the truth about taking the sperm-reducing birth control cream, like a spontaneous tattoo on the groin.  “So, I see your treatment is up-to-date.  Good for you.”

Andy Kim wins Democratic Senate Primary because [see below]

Democratic New Jersey Congressman Andy Kim easily captured the Party nomination to succeed disgraced sitting Democratic Senator Bob Menendez who will run as an independent if he’s not convicted of the federal corruption charges he’s being tried for, accused of trying to rig the US imported halal meat market to favor an Egyptian company.

The race really wasn’t close, with the third-term Congressman being declared the winner by the Associated Press minutes after the polls closed.  Kim came to national attention for his efforts to clean up the Capitol building after the January 6th Republican-led domestic terrorist attack on Congress.

Menendez’s now-wife triggered investigation by asking “what love of my life can do for you” while FBI was watching someone else

The FBI investigation into potential corruption by Democratic New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez started after Menendez’s then-girlfriend/now-wife Nadine Arslanian asked a subject under FBI surveillance, “What else can the love of my life do for you?” a federal agent testified at the Senator’s trial.

Per the Associated Press, FBI investigator Terrie Williams-Thompson said she overheard Nadine Arslanian ask the FBI target the question while dining at Morton’s steakhouse in Washington in 2019.  The Menendezes are accused of accepting cash, gold bars, cars and other benefits from an Egyptian importer of halal meat from Egypt that was under investigation for potentially running a monopoly.

One of the three other men at the table that day has flipped and will testify for the prosecution, and the other two will be tried together later.  Nadine Menendez will be tried separately from her husband.  Williams-Thompson weaved a story of undercover agents–including one posing as the target’s Uber driver–surreptitiously recorded the meeting at Morton’s using multiple teams and secret cameras.

FDA says tripping on molly not really a treatment

The available medical research doesn’t support the use of MDMA as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, an FDA advisory panel determined, temporarily stifling efforts to get the drug authorized as a medical treatment, NPR reports.

A growing amount of evidence–both anecdotal and clinical–suggests the use of psychedelics like MDMA, also known as ecstasy and molly with the festival kids, help patients suffering from disorders like PTSD, depression, anxiety and addiction.  However, by a 10-to-1 vote, the panel determined that the benefits to taking MDMA do not outweigh the risks.

In testimony, FDA researchers noted gaps in the data, while panel members raised questions about potential undeclared bias from some of the researchers.  Advocates for PTSD patients had hoped that the FDA would approve MDMA as the first new treatment for the disorder in more than two decades.

Cellular service between carriers disrupted by “nationwide issue”

Verizon and AT&T announced they’ve encountered a “nationwide issue” preventing voice calls from going between cell phone carriers, NBC News reports, but neither company specified what caused the issue.  The problem hasn’t impacted text services for customers or the cellular service for First Responders.   Calls to 9-1-1 are also being connected.

“What’s up with y’all today! My phone decided to stop making outgoing calls. Says it’s unable to connect,” one customer posted on social media, apparently unable to reach the company’s customer service team.  It’s unclear how many customers for the carriers were impacted.

Republican voters suddenly have a change of heart about whether a convicted felon should be elected president: YouGov polls

Big name polling outfit YouGov on Friday began sampling for a repeat of their April survey which asked various questions pertinent to now-convicted felon former President Trump’s then-not yet started trial on 34 counts of falsification of business records and found some shall we say, “evolving” views on the matter among Republican respondents: In April 17 percent said yes on whether “someone who has been convicted of a felony should be allowed to become president,” which dramatically increased to 58 percent when YouGov asked again between Friday and Sunday.

It gets even better. Comparing their April 2023 and June 2023 findings, YouGov also saw a 9 percent decrease for “Cheating on your spouse,” a 12 percent decrease for “Having sex with a porn star,” a 14 percent decrease for “Paying someone to remain silent about an affair,” and a 14 percent decrease for “Paying someone to remain silent about an issue that may affect the outcome of an election” among Republican voters on whether such sins should be should be illegal (it should go without saying that only the last of those should be “illegal” but this is what they asked).

Ever better-er: Also between those two samples, they found a 5 percent decrease for “Had an affair with porn star Stormy Daniels in 2006,” an 11 percent decrease for “Directed money to be paid to Stormy Daniels to remain silent about their affair,” a 6 percent decrease for “Falsified business records to conceal money paid to Stormy Daniels to remain silent about their affair,” and an 11 percent decrease for “Attempted to conceal damaging information and unlawful activity during the 2016 election” on whether or not Republican respondents believed Trump had done those things.

How fucking twisted is that, that their belief in whether or not these things actually happened declined inverse to their being borne out be evidence and testimony in a court of law? Holy shit, lol.

“Secure the Border Act” makes Arizona ballot in November

Arizona Republicans on Tuesday secured a spot on the November ballot for HCR 2060, the “Secure the Border Act,” a measure that if approved would allow local law enforcement to arrest anyone on suspicion of having crossed the Mexican border illegally, ABC15’s Rachel Louise Just reports.

Now maybe at first glance that sounds bad for Dems because muh border. But in a state that’s 30 percent Hispanic or Latino where if they’re properly informed that they can be stopped by racist MAGA cops at any time and locked up until they can prove they’re an American citizen or have a valid visa or whatever then well that’s probably actually not good for the GOP and could work in Dems’ favor on turnout. Or will 100 percent work in Dems’ favor on turnout if they simply put a lot of money and effort into campaign ads reaching Latino voters to tell them what the GOP wants to do.

Team Orange ask Merchan to terminate gag order

Convicted felon former President Trump’s lawyers on Tuesday moved to ask Manhattan Judge Juan Merchan to quash the gag order preventing the fat bastard from talking shit about the judge’s family, the trial witnesses, and the prosecution team now that he’s been found guilty, CNN reports.

“Now that the trial is concluded, the concerns articulated by the government and the Court do not justify continued restrictions on the First Amendment rights of President Trump – who remains the leading candidate in the 2024 president election – and the American people,” Trump’s shitbag lawyers wrote in the letter to Merchan, adding that because Joe Biden has publicly commented on the guilty verdict was now “even stronger,” as if the gag order restricted Trump from talking about Biden or that Merchan is done with Trump, because he isn’t until July 11th at the earliest.

Moscow Mitch not really feeling the whole MAGA rage thing

Asked by CNN’s Manu Raju if he still fully supports convicted felon former President Trump’s comeback campaign, Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell was kind of meh, saying simply “What I said last week, I will say again: this is a case that never should have been brought in the first place, and I think will be overturned on appeal,” rather than being all like “WER GONNA FUCK SHIT UP BECAUSE THAT WAS A COMMIE NAZI SHOW TRIAL THAT BIDEN SECRETLY DIRECTED!”

In a related development, Newsmax copied and pasted a bunch of quotes from The Hill’s originally reported article titled “GOP senators warn judge against sentencing Trump to prison” to compose an article titled “GOP Senators Warn Against Putting Trump Behind Bars” on Tuesday morning. So we’re going to go ahead and link the Newsmax article to give them the credit and traffic for their “work.”

Texas Senator John Cornhole Cornyn told Newsmax The Hill that it would be “further abuse of power,” if “Trump is put behind bars or sentenced to home confinement… I’m very troubled by what I see in the way the courts have been weaponized. It used to be there were some institutions in America, namely the FBI, the Department of Justice, and the courts which were regarded as out of bounds for overt partisan politics but, unfortunately, that’s changed and not for the better.”

Elon Musk never wants to do what Jack Smith made him do again

Ketamine-brained edgelord billionaire Elon Musk never wants to have to respond to a federal subpoena for a Twitter (or “X” if you’re a douche) account’s private messages and drafts and what not again after Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith last year got a federal judge to compel Musk to cough up convicted felon former President Trump’s then-locked Twitter account’s data without allowing Musk to inform the fat fuck that the feds were on to him, with the judge fining Twitter $350,000 for fucking around. It was an unpleasant experience to say the least for a 50-something-year-old man used to living out an adolescent power fantasy all day every day.

So what’s Musk to do? Politico reports he’s running to the Supreme Court to ask them to never again allow such a subpoena to be served without informing the target(s) first, even if it means like drug dealers and terrorists and human traffickers and all sorts of other scumbags. Those investigations be damned if two mentally stunted billionaires were intruded upon by a lowly G-man like Smith.

Some asshole plows into woman’s car, gets her arrested for DWI

A New Jersey woman’s car is wrecked and she’s the one facing driving while intoxicated and other charges after another driver didn’t hit the brakes in time to stop from plowing into her parked car on Cedar Avenue in the shore town of Long Branch on Monday night, the Asbury Park Press reports.

Granted, the other driver was a New Jersey Transit train engineer and he or she was at the switch of the 9:06 PM to Long Branch that smashed 34 year-old Long Branch resident Lisa Dorenfast’s car, but seriously just give her a parking ticket or something. She was being responsible by realizing she was too wasted to drive and pulling over. So what if it was at a railroad crossing? Her car just got all fucked up, give her a break. Maybe make her pay for a new paint job on the front of the train. Christ.

“You have no right to be here, you Nazi piece of shit”

Hunter Biden’s wife Melissa Cohen Biden screamed “You have no right to be here, you Nazi piece of shit” at former Trump aide Garrett Ziegler as he was entering the federal courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware during Hunter’s trial on Tuesday, NBC News reports from the scene.

Ziegler, a Nazi piece of shit who doxxed FBI agents involved in the 2022 raid on Mar-a-Lago and the defendant in a federal civil complaint brought by Hunter, told NBC he’s “not a Nazi, I’m a believer in the US Constitution. I haven’t said one thing to them,” and “It’s prudent for me to be here.”

RonAnon seems triggered, maybe because of Tony Evers

Republican Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson seems kind of butthurt over his co-conspirators Kenny Chesebro (who we are mildly surprised he got nailed considering he was reportedly cooperating in the other states, including Wisconsin, after pleading guilty in Georgia), Mike Roman (fuck that cocksucker), and Jim Troupis (fucking worm who tried to get his own vote tossed in 2020) getting charged Tuesday by the Wisconsin attorney general’s office. We’d like to hope that he’s feeling the heat himself, that if Chesebro cooped a plea to flip on Trump and the rest of them in Georgia then what’s stopping him from flipping on Ron in Wisconsin. In fact we do hope it’s that.

Biden Administration outlines new executive action for the border

“President Biden issued a proclamation under Immigration and Nationality Act sections 212(f) and 215(a) suspending entry of noncitizens who cross the Southern border into the United States unlawfully. This proclamation is accompanied by an interim final rule from the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security that restricts asylum for those noncitizens. These actions will be in effect when the Southern border is overwhelmed, and they will make it easier for immigration officers to quickly remove individuals who do not have a legal basis to remain in the United States.”

“These actions are not permanent. They will be discontinued when the number of migrants who cross the border between ports of entry is low enough for America’s system to safely and effectively manage border operations. These actions also include similar humanitarian exceptions to those included in the bipartisan border agreement announced in the Senate, including those for unaccompanied children and victims of trafficking,” says the White House in a statement on the executive action President Biden signed Tuesday after Trump commanded Republicans in Congress to kill off the proposed bipartisan border package both sides negotiated for months.

The AP reports that the action also mandates that the border be shut to all asylum claimants if illegal crossings exceed 2,500 per day, even lower than what the original deal’s threshold.

Majority of “swing voters” approve of Trump conviction: poll

A new Data for Progress national survey finds that 60 percent of swing voters, defined by the pollster as “Biden 2020 and Trump 2020 voters who are now considering voting third-party or for the other major party’s candidate, voters who say they’re undecided about whom they’ll vote for, and new or first-time voters who are weighing multiple options,” either strongly (40 percent) or somewhat (20 percent) approve of convicted felon former President Trump getting schlonged 34 times over by a 12 New Yorkers. Another 16 percent didn’t know while 24 percent disapproved.

The survey also found 52 percent overall – 44 percent strongly, 12 percent somewhat – approved of the verdict. Nearly a fifth of Republican respondents, 18 percent split 9 percent each at somewhat vs strongly, approved of the verdict and 75 percent disapproved, 57 strongly to 18 somewhat.

Data for Progress is a lefty pollster so assume some sugarcoating. And it would’ve been helpful if these “swing” voters were also in “swing” states because a “swung” vote in West Virginia means about as much as it does in Oregon: jack shit. Still having less than a quarter of the people who might vote for a Trump Reich actually opposed to his conviction ought to be pretty fucking terrifying to the fat bastard as he runs to avoid the consequences of his life of crimes.

WATCH LIVE: Jim Jordan wrestles with Merrick Garland again

We’re joining a little late as the House Judiciary Committee’s own feed is fucked up and stuck on a title card screen, but we’re still in opening statements from Ranking Member Jerry Nadler.

As billed, Attorney General Merrick Garland will sit for hours of abuse from spandex-wearing grapple-freak chairman Jim Jordan and his MAGA buddies in what we would hazard was a regularly-scheduled oversight hearing that just happened to come days after Jordan’s Orange Allah was convicted after a trial the fanboys falsely claim was secretly directed by the Biden-Garland Justice Department, Garland himself faces a contempt vote over his refusal to hand over the tape of Biden documents fuckup special counsel Robert Hur’s interview with the president to the House GOP to splice out audio segments to use for campaign purposes, and Hunter Biden’s federal gun charges trial – not to mention all the other ongoing “Deep State” and “weaponization” bullshit.

In related news, CNN’s Annie Grayer reports that Speaker Mike Johnson has greenlit Jordan’s plan for a “three-pronged” attack on the Justice Department through oversight, funding, and legislation to defang the nation’s top law enforcement body as revenge for Trump’s conviction in New York.
