Asked by Newsmax morning host Rob Schmitt if he’s making any backup plans in case his party’s nominee is in behind bars or otherwise indisposed during the Republican National Convention next month, RNC chair Mike Whatley on Tuesday said he’s “actually going up to Milwaukee this week, and we’re going to have a series of conversations, but look, we expect that Donald Trump is going to be in Milwaukee, and he’s going to be able to accept that nomination, and if not, we will make whatever contingency planning we need to make for it,” which is… Yeah Schmitt was a little shocked.

Whatley at first wouldn’t elaborate further, saying only “We’ll cross that bridge but you sort of have to go into this stuff, as we certainly will be planning on it. We’ll be thinking about it, and we’re working on that right now. But what we want to do is we want to have a show that is going to roll out Donald Trump and his vision for America, which is going to set up this election cycle.”

Prodded again, Whatley told Schmitt they’ll “have to wait and see what the courts present us with the opportunity to do, but look, Donald Trump will communicate directly with the American voters the way that he always does.” Patching his acceptance speech in through a collect call from a jailhouse payphone isn’t the way Trump “always communicates directly” with Americans though.

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul’s office on Tuesday filed forgery charges against Trump minions Kenny Chesebro, Mike Roman, and James Troupis for their involvement in convicted felon former President Trump’s post-2020 fake electors scam in the state, WISN12’s Matt Smith reports.

Fox News on Tuesday reported that appellate court benches full of partisans are bad and that judges who have donated to candidates on one side of the political spectrum should not decide cases in which the outcome could either advantage or disadvantage that side of the spectrum.

And we don’t need to imagine what the fucking freakout would look like if Jack Smith indicted Don Jr for the same crime as David Weiss has with Hunter.

Still, the Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe Doescher had to come up with something to go with op-ed headlined “Hunter Biden gets the fair trial denied to Donald Trump,” so she bitches about the judges, writing that even though US Judge Maryellen Noreika is a Trump appointee, she’s a 2008 Hillary-2012 Romney donor who got confirmed via “a blue slip” and got bipartisan support and blah blah blah. It’s only at the end of the piece does Doescher mention that Noreika blew up Hunter’s plea deal and forced this trial (and another in California) in the first place. Nowhere does she acknowledge that just maybe the judge’s alleged bipartisan chops would make a conviction more legitimate than the “show trial” the $35 Dem donor Judge Juan Merchan put on in New York.

At approximately 7:45 am HST this morning, a sulfur dioxide emission rate of approximately 15,000 tonnes per day was measured; this emission rate had decreased to 12,000 tonnes per day as of noon and has likely decreased further this afternoon. Volcanic tremor, a signal associated with fluid movement, continues to be recorded on summit seismometers though at a slightly decreased intensity. Earthquake activity decreased greatly in the summit region of Kilauea.”

Fox News “legal expert” Kerri Urbahn on Monday claimed that simply by showing up to her stepson’s trial that First Lady Jill Biden was “definitely” sending “a message from the White House” to the jurors as they were being selected. It’s not clear if Urbahn had any similar words for Republican members of Congress who sat in on fat former President Trump’s trial but lol no she didn’t.

Aggressively ambitious Republican New York Congresswoman and Lois Lane to Donald Trump’s EFT Superman Elise Stefanik apparently forgot she filed a judicial complaint against New York Judge Arthur Engoron and his clerk:  she and her staff appeared unaware when a Daily Beast reporter told her the complaint had been tossed by New York Commission on Judicial Conduct… back on March 14th.

In her letter to the manager from November 2023 as Engoron was determining the final penalty to be assessed, Karen Stefanik wrote, “I write today to express my serious concerns about the inappropriate bias and judicial intemperance shown by Judge Arthur F. Engoron in New York’s lawsuit against President Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization. This judge’s bizarre behavior has no place in our judicial system, where Judge Engoron is not honoring the defendant’s rights to due process and a fair trial. These serious concerns are exacerbated by the fact that the defendant is the leading candidate for President of the United States, and it appears the judicial system is being politicized to affect the outcome of the campaign. How dare you mere mortals believe you can judge an Adonnis like Donald Trump; you are not worthy.”  (Okay, maybe not that last part.)

Yeah, it sounds just as crazy when you apply to Hunter Biden as it did when Trump originally posted it at the start of his recently concluded Manhattan trial to stoke a rabid crowd of MAGAts that never appeared.  CNN reports Hunter Biden’s felony weapons trial in Wilmington, Delaware will get underway on Tuesday after twelve jurors and two alternatives were chosen during Monday’s proceedings.  Reportedly, Hunter Biden stayed awake throughout the proceedings.

This may be why frequent business travelers die early:  A new study indicates that drinking alcohol while you’re flying maybe bad for your health, even if you’re not the one flying the plane, according to NBC News.  If you enjoy a $9 bottle of vodka, say, before nodding off on a long flight, you could be jeopardizing your health.

Drinking then sleeping in low air pressure, turns out, can be fatal.  The study shows subjects’ heart rates increased by 15% and blood oxygen levels dropped as low as 85%–remember from The Pandemic:  Blood oxygen saturation levels below 95% are dangerous.

Although the study group was small–just 24 individuals–the phenomenon happened with subjects of various backgrounds, from healthy young people to older unfit passengers.  Airline cabins are typically pressurized to 6,000 to 8,000 feet of altitude.

Team Trump has successfully ensured that the Fulton County RICO trial will not occur before the November election:  CNN reports the Georgia Court of Appeals tentatively scheduled its hearing for Donald Trump’s appeal to remove Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for October 4th, making the deposition of Trump’s case before the November election unlikely.  The lower court’s case can continue as the appeal is pending, but Judge Scott McAfee has not yet set a start date for the trial.

The executive director of the DC Board of Elections is concerned for the safety of her team after a barrage of threatening calls and email have besieged her office.  “I am definitely nervous,” Monica Evans told the Washington Post. “The environment around elections has felt more unsafe.”

DC passed a law allowing non-citizens to vote in 2022, but this is the first election where they will be eligible, and conservatives are not happy. “Where the hell do you get off letting illegals vote? This is the nation’s capital. You are traitors, traitors to our country,” one voicemail said.  The threats have gotten so bad, Evans has advised staffers to avoid wearing or covering up the Board’s name and logo on clothing when they’re in public.  They’re not paranoid:  at an early voting center in a Georgetown library, a vandal wrote “VOTING NOT A RIGHT. IS A PRIVILEGE OF CITIZEN.”

So far, more than 500 non-citizens have registered to vote in upcoming local elections.  To be eligible, the registrant must be otherwise eligible except for the citizenship issue, and is not registered to vote in any other nation or jurisdiction.

GUAN was arrested yesterday morning and will be presented this afternoon before US Magistrate Judge Stewart D Aaron. The case has been assigned to US District Judge Victor Marrero,” says a Justice Department/Southern District of New York press release.

Continued: “From at least in or about 2020, through in or about May 2024, GUAN, while working as the Chief Financial Officer of a multinational media company headquartered in New York, New York (the ‘Media Company’), conspired with others to participate in a sprawling, transnational scheme to launder at least approximately $67 million of illegally obtained funds to bank accounts in the names of the Media Company and related entities (together, with the Media Company, the ‘Media Entities’).”

In a court filing chock full of demands based on unsupported claims and transphobic hysteria, a pair of University of Texas professors filed a lawsuit against the federal government demanding the power to flunk students who have elective abortions and to refuse to work with any assistants or staffers who are transgender.  Unsurprisingly, the suit is supported by corrupt Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Brought by University of Texas at Austin philosophy professor Daniel Bonevac and finance professor John Hatfield and supported by such powerhouses as the deputy commissioner of administration for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, the suit claims that providing medical exemption for students who have had elective abortions–regardless of where the medical procedure is conducted–violates Texas law and therefore does not qualify therefore for an excused absence under state law.

In identical statements, the pair declare ever-so-graciously that they will honor the absence for students who can prove to them that the abortion was medically necessary, even though neither of the professors is professionally qualified to determine what is medically necessary: “I will certainly accommodate students who are seeking medically necessary abortions in response to a pregnancy that threatens the student’s life or health. But I will not accommodate a purely elective abortion that serves only to kill an unborn child that was conceived through an act of voluntary and consensual sexual intercourse.”
