Democratic former Long Island Congressman Tom Suozzi will face the winner of the Republican primary in the race to replace Cameo star George Santos on February 13, 2024, CBS News’s Scott MacFarlane reports citing the announcement by New York Governor Kathy Hochul on Tuesday.

Suozzi, who left Congress to unsuccessfully run against Hochul in the 2022 primary, was picked by the governor (after he made amends for shit-talking her during the campaign) due to New York’s system which allows her to bypass the primary and crown the nominee. The race, of course rated as a toss-up by the horserace circlejerkers, is expected to be pretty freaking expensive.

The Trump cabal’s legal teams just cannot seem to stop screwing up.  On Monday, Trump’s personal lawyers missed a key filing deadline regarding his New York gag order, then Rudy Giuliani’s attempt to have the civil defamation lawsuit by Fulton County, Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss heard in a bench trial was thrown out because the case had already been decided and Rudy lost in a default judgment.

Now, according to Politico, Giuliani’s lawyer is taking the blame for his client not appearing in a DC federal courthouse even though Judge Beryl Howell had previously ordered his presence.  While Freeman and Moss watched from the plaintiffs’ table, attorney Joe Sibley was scolded by Howell after he meekly claimed he had misunderstood her order.  “How could you have missed that?” Howell asked, to which Sibley responded, “My mistake.”

The Peruvian Constitutional Court on Monday ordered former President Alberto Fujimori released from after he spent 18 years behind bars for living La Vida MAGA with all sorts of corruption scams and human rights violations during his reign from 1990 to 2000, some far right dipshit reports.

The miserable old bastard could’ve been out earlier if his daughter Ivanka Keiko Fujimori had won the 2021 presidential election, but she was edged out by lefty indigenous activist Pedro Castillo.

Castillo and Fujimori had been housed in the same special ex-presidential prison together for nearly a year. Fujimori’s release now makes room for his successor, former President Alejandro Toledo, who had been extradited from the United States to face money laundering charges back in April.

Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris has become undisputedly the most active Vice President in United States history when it comes to the official duties of the Vice President.  Besides maintaining a pulse to serve as a potential successor to the President, she’s excelled at the only other official duty of the VP:  Harris has cast more tie-breaking votes while presiding as President of the Senate than any other Vice President, according to the Associated Press.

With a vote to confirm a new federal judge Tuesday morning, Harris cast her 32nd vote to break a tie in the Senate, surpassing the 31 such votes made by John C. Calhoun during his eight-year term from 1825 to 1832; thanks to today’s political climate which is much like the antebellum period, Harris accomplished her record in less than half the time. Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville is expected to object to Calhoun’s erasure from the record book, calling it CRT gone wild.

Instead, the Louisiana Republican decided to badger FBI Director Christopher Wray about why the agency hasn’t acknowledged the legitimacy of “Hunter Biden’s laptop,” which according to Hunter Biden, is not his laptop but just a computer onto which someone loaded his stolen personal information.  (As we’ve reviewed here before, just because the files were Hunter’s doesn’t make the laptop Hunter’s.)  Not only can Wray not comment on a current investigation, he wouldn’t want to lie before Congress by claiming the FBI confirmed the provenance of the laptop as Kennedy described.

In a banger of a filing notifying the court of evidence he intends to introduce at disgraced former President Trump’s upcoming trial on charges stemming from his post-2020 election coup attempt, Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith says he has text messages indicating that the fat bastard and his minions tried to start a riot outside the TCF Center in Detroit – where the ballots were still being counted in the majority-Black city – on November 4th, 2020, writing:

“The indictment lists multiple examples of the defendant’s efforts, during the charged conspiracies, to pressure state officials to change election results or appoint invalid electors in spite of the election results. The Government also plans to introduce evidence of an effort undertaken by an agent (and unindicted co-conspirator) of the defendant who worked for his campaign (‘the Campaign Employee’) to, immediately following the election, obstruct the vote count. On November 4, 2020, the Campaign Employee exchanged a series of text messages with an attorney supporting the Campaign’s election day operations at the TCF Center in Detroit, where votes were being counted; in the messages, the Campaign Employee encouraged rioting and other methods of obstruction when he learned that the vote count was trending in favor of the defendant’s opponent.”

Far right Florida state Senator Blase Ingoglia on Monday introduced a resolution calling for a constitutional amendment referendum reading “Proposing an amendment to the State Constitution to prohibit the state, a county, a municipality, and any other political subdivision from paying compensation in the form of reparations to an individual who is a descendant of an enslaved individual who lived in the United States before December 6, 1865,” to appear on the 2024 ballot.

Never has the Sunshine State or any of its counties or municipalities ever proposed slavery reparations much less paid them out. Still Ingoglia tells FloridaPolitics.com you can’t be too cautious about money going to Black people these days. “Congress, as well as politicians in states like California, and others, are proposing reparations. Florida should be proactive because bad ideas in some states seem to find their way into other states. Giving the voters the option to enshrine the prohibition into our Constitution takes the prospect of vote buying in the form of ‘reparations’ off the table, in order for legislators and community leaders to talk about how to really make a difference in black and brown communities,” said Ingoglia, who called it “race-bating” in another interview.

It’s a bit of a switch for Ingoglia, who earlier this year took a different position when it came to healing the scars wrought by slavery’s horrific legacy, introducing a bill called the “Ultimate Cancel Act,” by banning all political parties that once used slavery as part of their platform from fielding candidates in any election in the state of Florida. The bill never came to a vote in the state Senate.

Former Acting House Speaker Patrick McHenry will on Tuesday announce he’s calling it quits and will not run for reelection in 2024 after serving out this term, Politico’s Olivia Beavers reports.

The pace of drop-outs in odd-numbered years is typically a barometer of how a caucus feels about how the next election is going to go: In 2017 and 2019 there were fairly large exoduses of Republicans while 2022 saw more Dems, but not nearly as many, do the same. Per Ballotpedia the current pace is at 20 Dems and ten Republicans (adding McHenry to Ballotpedia’s total). That measure isn’t all that great however and it’s more instructive to look a little deeper at it. Nine of those Dems but only two of the Republicans are running for the Senate. Eight Dems and seven Republicans are retiring outright, plus that Dean Phillips dipshit who might as well be retiring and…

House GOP leadership on Tuesday announced they will tee up a vote to formalize their impeachment inquiry against President Biden, CNN’s Manu Raju reports, writing “Several members from swing districts indicating they will vote YES for inquiry but not sold on backing articles of impeachment.”

Spandex-wearing grapple-freak Jim Jordan and his buddies James Comer and Jason Smith on Tuesday released their ominously-titled “THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT’S DEVIATIONS FROM STANDARD PROCESSES IN ITS INVESTIGATION OF HUNTER BIDEN” interim staff report on the “Weaponization” side of their circlejerk, 78 pages of gratingly boring, minute details of the long-running criminal probe in which Hunter Biden did actually end up getting charged this year.

From the get-go they acknowledge that it all started in November 2018, while their Orange God Emperor was still in office, overseeing the Justice Department with that bald asshole whats-his-name as the Acting Attorney General and then with Bill Barr. It’s not until page 22 that the word “Trump” actually shows up – and it’s the only mention that isn’t some news story URL in a footnote:

“The Committees have obtained information showing that the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware under the leadership of David Weiss also deviated from standard operating procedure to the benefit of Hunter Biden. Although Weiss was initially appointed by President Trump, he was recommended for the position by Delaware’s two Democratic senators, Tom Carper and Chris Coons. In 2021, the Biden Administration asked Weiss to stay on as US Attorney. Weiss had previously been appointed as interim US Attorney in Delaware during the Obama Administration, and had ‘often’ worked with Hunter Biden’s brother, Beau Biden, during Beau Biden’s tenure as Attorney General of Delaware. While Weiss was registered as a Republican, Assistant US Attorney Lesley Wolf, who played a central role in the Hunter Biden investigation, had donated to Democrat campaigns. In a state dominated politically by the Biden family, these facts are not insignificant.”

A Virginia judge on Monday tossed two felony counts – making a false statement and corrupt conduct – against the former Registrar of Elections in Prince William County after a witness changed his story claiming the official, Michelle White, had fucked around with something in the months before and after the 2020 election, the AP reports. White, who abruptly resigned in 2021 with no explanation, still faces trial on a misdemeanor charge of willful neglect of duty next month.

The utter void of publicly available details and the fact that Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares and not a local prosecutor who in September 2022 brought the case against White – who oversaw voting in the wealthy, populous DC-area county that Joe Biden won 62 to 35 percent in 2020 – has naturally led to a frenzied MAGA circlejerk, with asshole John Solomon’s website reporting just last week that White had “altered election results.” That was probably based on this one jerkoff witness’s story, so we’d love to know more about him and how whatever the “willful neglect of duty” was got turned into a full-blown conspiracy to steal the election from Trump.

The Northumberland County, Pennsylvania chapter of far right Karen group Moms for Liberty announced Monday they would split from the national organization after finding out that Florida-based co-founder Bridget Ziegler is bisexual because her husband is under criminal investigation for allegedly raping their shared girlfriend, the Shamokin, Pennsylvania News-Item reports.

“The journey has always been the strength of our local community and we found all the support we need among us We are going to continue to champion parental rights with dignity and integrity. It’s hard to advocate for parental rights when the co-founder is caught up in the scandal,” chapter chair Clarissa Paige told the paper. “Our values are not aligning with the national organization.”

Some people may disagree on whether it’s worth it for Democrats to be sending George Santos $200 to make these kinds of “endorsements” and other certain messages. Those people are wrong.

A new national survey of voters 18 to 29 by the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics among finds a small drop in enthusiasm since the same point in 2019 for Democrats in the bracket, with those saying they will “definitely vote” down to 66 from 68 percent, Axios reports.

Among Republicans 18 to 29 the decline is steeper: 66 percent in the fall of 2019 to 56 in 2023. The poll also found Biden leading Trump by 11 percent among 18 to 29 year olds in a head-to-head. What the actual number is we don’t know because stupid Axios didn’t include it in their report. They did however include that Biden leads Trump 29 to 25 percent when RFK Jr (10 percent), Cornel West (3 percent), and Joe Manchin (2 percent, lol) are added to the mix, with 31 percent undecided.

Not great, considering Biden won the youth vote by 26 percent in 2020 and Democrats won it by 37 percent in 2022. Still far from the fucking bleak picture the circlejerkers at Emerson would have you believe with their Trump 45 – Biden 43 among 18 to 29s finding in their bullshit October poll. Biden’s ceiling is far higher among younger voters and the challenge in 2024 is much more about getting them to show up than it is with trying to win over the relative few affirmatively on Team MAGA.

A Sunday NRCC fundraising email attributed to Speaker Mike Johnson railed against the moral decay of American society that you kind of have to read to believe the shit this maniac “wrote”:
