Noted asparagus advocate and republican Congressman from Texas Louie Gohmert told a local news station that he thinks he got coronavirus from the mask he wore, reports easttexasmatters.com.
“I can’t help but wonder if by keeping a mask on and keeping it in place, if I might have put some… of the virus on the mask and breathed it in…,” Gohmert told KETK News. “But the reports of my demise are very premature.”
For the record, no one has reported Rep. Gohmert had died.
Gohmert tested positive for the coronavirus during a screening mandated by the White House because he was scheduled to travel with President Trump to Texas today. He said he will isolate for ten days.
During yesterday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing with Attorney General William Barr, Gohmert and some other republicans refused to wear a mask, per Committee rules. Chairman Jerry Nadler publicly rebuked those member for endangering the other members and staff.
