The United States recorded 1,505 fatalities from the coronavirus Tuesday, the first time it exceeded 1,500 deaths in one day since May 27th, according to data from worldometers.info.
Florida and Texas both exceeded 200 fatalities, with Georgia and California topping 100, Tuesday. Georgia’s 122 deaths set a new high for the state.
Nationally, more than 54,000 new coronavirus cases were reported, with only California registering more than 10,000 new cases. Florida recorded only 5,800 new cases, but the state closed state-sponsored locations for about a week, just reopening last Wednesday.
