Two Alabama schools have sent their students home after an employee who splits time between the schools tested positive for coronavirus, requiring 1,200 students to switch to remote learning protocols, the Associated Press reports.
Twelve other schools in Lawrence County will open for in-person classes as scheduled, Superintendent Jon Bret Smith told the Decatur Daily. The elementary school and middle school impacted by the infection will be closed for two weeks at the recommendation of county public health officials.
According to officials the infected individual had direct contact with 10 members of the staff. The two schools employ 105 people total.
