For the first time in a week, the number of new daily reported coronavirus cases in the United States exceeded 60,000 infections, with more than 1,100 fatalities on Friday, according to data compiled by worldometers.info.
The seven-day moving average for fatalities in the US surpassed 1,000 for the sixteenth straight day and the seven-day running average for new cases topping 50,000 for the 43rd straight day.
California was the only state to top 10,000 new cases for the day, with both Texas and Florida exceeding 6,000. Florida and Texas both surpassed 200 fatalities on Friday.
Other than the United States, Brazil was the only other nation to exceed 1,000 fatalities. India led the world with more than 65,000 new cases reported Friday.
