Wisconsin republican Senator Ron Johnson attended a fundraiser Friday night in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin even though he had been told he had been exposed to coronavirus and had not yet received his test results, the Washington Post reports.
Johnson’s received the positive results of his coronavirus test on Saturday morning. He is the third republican Senator to test positive since President Trump announced he was infected.
“This was strictly a precautionary test, as I have done multiple times over the last few weeks — going to the White House, going to the Oval Office, being in Air Force One,” Johnson said. “This is the exact same thing. I’ve never quarantined after a test, there’s no reason to do so, because I’m not sick.”
Johnson had been quarantining at his home in Wisconsin since September 14th after learning he had been exposed to someone who tested positive. He returned to Washington, DC last Tuesday only to learn he had again been exposed to someone who tested positive.
He did not attend the superspreader event held at the White House Rose Garden Saturday.
He returned to Wisconsin, and attended the Republican Party of Ozaukee County’s Oktoberfest dinner Friday night as he awaited the results of another COVID test. He justified going to the public event saying that he wore a mask and stayed six feet away from others.
