Multiple customers at a restaurant in Blacksburg, Virginia–home to Virginia Tech University–have experienced illness and disorientation after having drinks at its bar over the past few months, prompting police to investigate if the drinks were spiked, the Roanoke Times reports.
Blacksburg police are working with Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority and state Department of Forensic Science to investigate complaints it received and accounts posted on social media to investigate the incidents at the Centro Taco Bar, on the town’s Main Street. So far, no evidence of drugs being used has been found.
A woman who became disoriented and began vomiting soon after eating and drinking at Centro Taco Bar on May 18th, and said police also were investigating another, similar incident at the restaurant.
“We have a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that violates or threatens the safety of our patrons or employees,” said the statement from the restaurant. “It is extremely concerning that anyone has felt that their safety or health was compromised in our establishment, and we take these allegations very seriously.
The restaurant recently made the news after an assistant manager was allegedly murdered by a freshman Virginia Tech football player at his apartment earlier this month.
