A Costa Mesa, California couple has been arrested in the road rage shooting that killed six-year-old Aiden Leos on May 21st on an Orange County freeway, KCAL CBS-9 reports.
Marcus Anthony Eriz, 24, and Wynne Lee, 23, were arrested on Sunday at their home and will be charged murder. They were in a car that got into an aggressive driving situation with Leos’ mother on May 21st, during which a shot was fired from their car and struck Aiden Leos in the back as he was strapped into a booster seat in the back seat of his mother’s car as she drove him to kindergarten.
Joanna Cloonan, Aiden’s mother, reportedly tried to exit a carpool lane to take an exit to get to Aiden’s school when the white Volkswagen station wagon driven by Eriz cut off their access to their lane. Cloonan made a hand gesture to the other car, afterwhich her car was struck by a single shot that murdered Aiden.
Eriz is seen in photos posted online recklessly handling guns, including one video of him shooting a pistol-grip shotgun with one hand.
Eriz and Lee, who are boyfriend and girlfriend, are being held on $1 million bond each.
