MAGA pundits are doing their deathbed confessions “please go out and get vaccinated, this virus ain’t no joke!”, children’s wards in hospitals are packed all across the Southeast, Florida’s announcing over 20,000 new Covid infections per day, and the Trump base are still saying “I need to see more evidence about this vaccine”. These are the same asshats that will gladly drink colloidal silver, run to their doctor for a prescription for hydroxychloroquine, or head to the farm supply to load up on Ivermectin if Alex Jones or the former guy tells them to, but when advice comes from the CDC and the NIH, they insist “Oh no I need to see more evidence”.
There comes a point when you’re dealing with an alcoholic where being nice isn’t helping, it’s enabling, and I think we’ve really reached that point in America today with the MAGA faithful. If you try to be nice to these people they just overwhelm you with right wing bullshit and propaganda. In AA meetings there’s a huge focus on telling people to “get over yourself”, and start being honest about why you drank like a fish for so many years. I think we’re at the same point with the MAGA population. Instead of being polite, it’s time to ask them “Where is your bottom? What is the point where your life is so miserable as a result of listening to Donald Trump and all of his propaganda lieutenants that you’re finally going to get your shit together and start to sober up?”
The current situation with Covid19 case numbers spiking all across the South is driving many Americans into a rage. It’s time to stop enabling the MAGA wahoos by sitting on our hands, and time to tell them to get their shit together. More American companies need to go ahead and start requiring proof of vaccination for employees. Insurers should announce increased premiums for those who refuse to get vaccinated. After the US beat the Germans in World War II, we didn’t send people to Germany to tell them Hitler was really a great guy who just had some bad ideas, the Allied countries went full bore on a program to De-Nazify Germany, and to eradicate vestiges of Nazi propaganda from German life. It’s time to do the same in America, and after our government is done going after the people who were responsible for coordinating the events of January 6th, there needs to be a comprehensive investigation and prosecutions under 18 USC Section 1038: False information and hoaxes as it pertains to Chapter 2 of Title 18, and the people who willfully spread misinformation about Covid19 and vaccines, knowing that it could cause substantial harm to others, need to be sent to prison.
