A gunman who may have been streaming the attack online walked into a busy Buffalo supermarket Saturday and opened fire with a rifle, killing at least ten people, USA Today reports.
An unknown number of people were wounded. The gunman was described as a white male in his late teens or early twenties. Witnesses say he was wearing military clothing and body armor when he walked into the Tops Friendly Market busy with shoppers in a predominantly Black neighborhood and started firing. He was taken into custody.
“He was standing there with the gun to his chin. We were like what the heck is going on? Why does this kid have a gun to his face?” said 20-year-old Braedyn Kephart, who was just driving into the parking lot when the shooter emerged. The shooter dropped to his knees. “He ripped off his helmet, dropped his gun, and was tackled by the police.”
