Timothy Loehmann is already out of a job. The former Cleveland police officer–who shot 12-year-old Tamir Rice as the boy was playing with a toy gun–has withdrawn from the sole police job in Tioga, Pennsylvania without working a shift, the Associated Press reports.
“The community spoke. They got their feelings out, and we listened to them and we’re going to react to it and that will be that,” borough council President Steve Hazlett said in a phone interview. “We thank the community for stepping forward and letting their voices be heard.”
Loehmann’s position had been approved by the borough council, but apparently they didn’t know the fact that he shot and killed a child before the patrol car he jumped out of had even rolled to a stop.
