Comedian Sarah Silverman joined novelists Christopher Golden and Richard Kadrey in a lawsuit against the creator of ChatGPT claiming the creator of the artificial intelligence platform improperly violated copyrights and intellectual property rights they hold by incorporating their works into the text generators.
This is the latest legal question surrounding the recent surge in new AI content generators that utilize available performances, art, and literature to create original works that rely heavily on the styles, words and talents of others. Artists, like the three in this lawsuit, claim the proprietary AI systems have sampled their works to create on-demand pieces.
