Five people, including an off-duty police officer, are dead in a mass shooting in Raleigh, North Carolina Thursday evening, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. As of a tweet issued at 8:27 p.m. ET, police report that the shooter is not in custody but is “contained.”
Two others were injured, including a Raleigh K-9 officer who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have instructed people in the Hedingham neighborhood to remain indoors until given the all-clear.
Update: as of 10:04 p.m. ET, the Washington Post reports the suspect is in custody.
