Clearly annoyed that the police report on the arrest of the first suspect, Javier Lopez said there was “No indication” of any political motive to the brutal assault of Marco Rubio’s far right racist campaign staffer Chris “Cuban Confederate” Monzon, Fox News is apparently delighted to have found a reference to politics in the arrest report of a second suspect, Jonathan Casanova.
“According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, Jonathan Alexander Casanova joined Javier Lopez in attacking the canvasser. The document also noted that the canvasser told police that Casanova told him he could not pass through the area because he was a Republican,” Fox News wrote Wednesday, while adding at the end “This is a breaking story and will be updated as events warrant.” The story was posted more than two hours ago and still has not been updated.
Now call us suspicious but we’re wondering why the cops would revise their report from one arrest to another for two different suspects for the same crime. It seems strange to us (or not really if the cops are Fox News fans and threw that in for fun). What doesn’t seem strange however is that Fox News would leave out that Monzon was himself arrested at the 2017 Charlottesville MAGA riot, has posted shit like “Dirty n****rs love abusing power,” and “Too bad Jews decide our foreign policy,” and has been paid thousands of dollars by the Florida GOP for his canvassing work. We get why they’d skip over stuff like that, because it makes Monzon look unsympathetic.
